United States President Joe Biden started an official meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Monday at the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia's Bali. The two presidents were seen shaking hands before the press ahead of the bilateral meeting, the first since before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020.

According to media reports, Biden told Xi that his administration was ready to work with Beijing in addressing challenges such as climate change and global food shortages, adding that the two countries should manage differences without conflict.
