Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower on Monday after a district of Guangzhou entered a five-day lockdown as a measure to fight the new wave of COVID-19 in China. Meanwhile, the People's Bank of China decided not to take a more combative step and left interest rates unchanged.

Japan's Nikkei closed 0.16% higher as the dollar grew by 0.12% against the yen. South Korea's Kospi fell by 1.22%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 decreased by 0.18% at the close.
