EU Opening - European stock exchanges are moving weakly

Written on 11/10/2022

European stock exchanges are moving weakly, awaiting the key report on American inflation. Investors, always waiting for the final results of the Midterm elections in the United States (in the House of Representatives the Republicans are on their way to win, even if by a much lower margin than that indicated by the forecasts. In the Senate the situation is uncertain), they have returned to focus on the economic trend and are waiting to understand what the price trend in the US is and, consequently, how much the Fed will decide to raise interest rates. In December, the US central bank could raise interest rates by 75 basis points (it would be the fifth time in a row) or by "only" 50 basis points. Inflation in the US in September reached 8.2%, expectations are for a slight decrease to 7.9%.
Core inflation (i.e. purified of the more volatile components such as energy and food) should be around 6.5%. But the market fears surprises.
