Key Global Events

The European central bank also raised interest rates following the FED's restrictive policy. The Euro zone interest rate rose to 4.25 %.

After the pause scored last meeting, the FED raises the interest rate by raising it to 5.50 percent, the highest in 22 years. Chairman Jerome Powell left open the possibility of further increases, signaling that they would be data-dependent. Investors are betting that the Fed may have reached the end of its tightening cycle.

Meta Platforms Inc. shares rose after the company reported second-quarter revenue of $32 billion. The stock gained more than 8 percent in after hours trading.

After the rate decision, futures of major U.S. indexes traded in the red. Dow Jones +0.22%, S&P500 +0.76% and Nasdaq +1.39%.

European stock exchanges extend their gains. Milan's FTSE MIB +1.94%, Paris' CAC +1.87 Madrid's IBEX +0.94%, London's FTSE +0.32%.

Forex & Commodities

Euro and Sterling sink against the greenback. EURUSD -0.37%. GBPUSD cross -0.45%. Among commodities, oil remains below $80 a barrel (+1.23%). Gold sinks around $1958 an ounce (-0.52%).

Index

Asian stock markets traded upward. Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed at +0.82 %. The Chinese Hang Seng index continues the rally by closing trade at +1.45 %.
